Frequently asked questions

Consultations and contacting the firm

Is the initial consultation free?

Yes. The initial consultation is free and carries no obligation. It is typically twenty to thirty minutes by phone or video, or in person at either office by appointment. Its purpose is to understand your situation, determine whether the matter is one the firm handles, and explain how we would approach it and what it would cost.

What information should I have available?

For most matters, a short summary of what happened and when, the names of the other people or companies involved, and any deadline you are aware of, such as a court date, a letter demanding a response, or a date on a contract. If you have documents, keep them handy but do not send them before we talk; we will tell you what we need. For estate planning, a rough list of your assets, your family, and the people you would trust to act for you is a good start.

Do you meet with clients outside the St. Louis area?

Yes. The firm represents clients throughout Missouri and conducts most meetings by phone or video. The Wildwood office serves west St. Louis County and St. Charles County, and the downtown office at 401 Pine Street is near the courts in the City of St. Louis. Both offices are by appointment only. Federal firearms trust work is handled for clients nationwide.

Do you accept legal insurance?

We do. The firm accepts ARAG, LegalShield, MetLife Legal, and other plans that many employers offer as a benefit. If you have a plan, tell us when you reach out and we will confirm what it covers before the consultation. Our legal insurance page explains how the process works.

Is what I send through the form confidential?

Information you send is treated as confidential and is not shared. Sending a message does not, by itself, create an attorney-client relationship; that relationship begins when an engagement letter is signed. For that reason, please keep the initial message general: state the type of matter and how to reach you, and reserve the details for the consultation. If you have an urgent deadline, call the office rather than relying on the form.

How quickly will I hear back?

We respond to messages within one business day, and usually the same day. Online bookings are confirmed immediately by email. For urgent matters, such as a hearing, an arrest, or a demand with a short deadline, call or text (314) 732-1547 and indicate that the matter is urgent.
